Tulsa International Airport (TUL)
Airport Information
(Tulsa, Oklahoma - OK, USA)
The main gateway to Tulsa and northeast Oklahoma, Tulsa International Airport (TUL) is close to Catoosa, Owasso, Turley and Mohawk Park, and is located around 8.5 miles / 14 km to the northeast of central Tulsa itself. Also close to both Broken Arrow and Sand Springs, the airport serves over three million passengers a year through ten commercial airlines, including a mixture of affiliates and charters. In total there are more than 70 daily flights available to and from Tulsa Airport, linking cities nationwide, such as Chicago, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Orlando, Salt Lake City and San Antonio.
Tulsa's airport began in the early 1900s, when a group of 47 local businessmen joined forces and fortunes. These men signed the Stud Horse Note, which promised $172,000 to purchase 390 acres / 158 hectares of land that now serves as the site of Tulsa Airport. Thanks to the forethought of the early visionaries, Tulsa International Airport (TUL) has grown into one of the finest airports in the whole of the United States.
The US-11 runs right past the airport and links up with I-244 to the south for fast access to Tulsa and beyond, leading to the I-44 and ultimately Oklahoma City. A local bus company offers cheap transport from the airport into downtown Tulsa and its Brookside, Greenwood, Maple Ridge, Midtown and Uptown districts.
Greyhound Lines provide services to Tulsa and farther afield, while airport hotel shuttles are also in good supply. Taxis and limos provide travelers with convenient transport to the city and hotels, being operated by a number of different companies, such as Checker Cabs and also Tulsa Airport Taxis, amongst others.

The central downtown district is within easy reach of Tulsa Airport (TUL) and possesses some interesting attractions and cultural highlights, including the excellent Gilcrease Museum, the Philbrook Museum of Art and the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. The Williams complex is heavily into performing arts, while Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum and the Oxley Nature Center are also must-see Oklahoma attractions.
